MONICA MARY (ROETZLER) TROENDLE

Monica Mary (Roetzler) Troendle passed from this life at the age of 68 on September 27, 2025. She is survived by her husband, Ron, and her 7 children: Johanna (Anthony) Jalbert, Cyril, John (Jasmine), Leo, Joseph, Catherine (Josh) Studinger, James (Claire), as well as 8 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Roetzler, and sisters, Cathy Roetzler and Margaret Simonson. She is preceded in death by her parents. Monica was born May 5, 1957 to Anthony and Virginia (Collins) Roetzler in Mankato, MN and grew up on a farm near Rochester, MN. She graduated in 1975 from Lourdes High School in Rochester. She grew up riding horses and showing Angus beef in 4-H and enjoyed working with her Dad on various projects around the farm. Following high school, Monica attended the University of Minnesota and completed her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1984. Subsequently, she moved to Caledonia and worked as a veterinarian for several years. During that time, Monica met and fell in love with Ronald Troendle and they married on June 13, 1987 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caledonia. Together they raised a beautiful family of 7 children. Family was one of the biggest focal points of Monica's life. She dedicated the rest of her life to raising and caring for her children. She poured her time and her heart into her family because she knew that the role of a mother is irreplaceable. At home, she taught her children practical lifelong skills, hard work, and perseverance. But, first and foremost, she instilled the importance of our Catholic faith, the sacraments, the pursuit of virtue, a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and prioritizing your life in the order of God, family, and then work. Many people that knew Monica described her as being a rock, and she truly was. She was a hard worker whose efforts were not always noticed, but were always essential. She lived out her vocation as a wife who was striving to always support her husband. One of her favorite sayings was, "Don't follow the crowd, and don't let the world lead you around by the nose." She had an unmatched fiery passion, while also having an engaged and caring personality. She had a strong zeal for justice, as well as mercy. Monica's faith was her rock. She had a deep devotion to Our Lady and was continuously striving to have a deeper surrender and Trust in the Lord. In recent years she was promoted to grandma and enjoyed that role immensely! Those who knew Monica will miss her smile and warm disposition, and we are thankful that her Heavenly Father has welcomed her home. Visitation will be at St. Mary's Holy Family Hall, Thursday, October 2nd, 5:30-8pm with rosary at 7pm. Visitation will also be from 10-10:45 am Friday morning before the service at the hall. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 3rd at 11am at St Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia, MN. Burial and luncheon to follow.
