ESTHER FELTEN

On Monday, February 26, 2018, Esther Felten passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years, at Mayo Health Systems, La Crosse, Wisconsin surrounded by family. Esther will be forever remembered by her loving family who will miss her dearly. Esther Wilma Felten was born to John and Apollonia Thillen on January 13, 1925, in Caledonia, MN. She married Norman Michael Felten on June 1st 1943. Norman passed away on July 27, 1979. There was nothing more meaningful to Esther than her family. She loved her family dearly both those near and far. She enjoyed her garden and the many years she was able to spend milking alongside her sons on the family farm. Esther lived her life with determination and purpose. Hers was a life well lived. She was blessed and is survived by seven children: Joanne (Clayton) Rottman of Caledonia, MN; Caroline (Harlow) Wolkow of Lakeville, MN; Ralph (Susan) Felten of Caledonia, MN; Paul (Pat) Felten of Winona, MN; Steve Felten of Caledonia, MN; Lyle (Wendy) Felten of La Crosse, WI; Donald (Mary) Felten of Chamberlin, SD. Esther will be fondly remembered by her many grandchildren: Gail (Scott) Loncharek; Troy (Mary) Wolkow; Lori Loncharek; Tammy (Christopher) Omdal; Amber Felten; Lance (Elizabeth) Wolkow; Todd (Tracie) Wolkow; David (Michelle) Felten; Justin Felten; Rachel Felten; Hannah Felten; Katelyn Felten; and Tracy Felten. She also was blessed with five step-grandchildren: Vicki (Russ) Breeser; Theresa (Jim) Sennes; Cheryl (Don) Vickery; Ashley (Felten); and Jane Morgan Tesch (Felten). In addition to her eighteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Esther was blessed with nineteen great-grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren. Esther is also survived by her sisters Fern Richards of Brownsville, and Sr. Evelyn Thillen of Rochester. Esther was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and sisters Carol Schieber, Melba Privet, and Lorraine Vick, and brothers Valerie and John Thillen. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 2nd at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caledonia beginning at 10:30 am with visitation one hour before. The burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery Caledonia. A separate visitation will be held Thursday March 1st at St. Mary's Holy Family Hall from 4-7 pm.
