EDWARD C. "LUG" COLSCH (Brownsville, MN) Edward C. "Lug" Colsch, 65, of Brownsville, died surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, LaCrosse, WI. Lug was born September 22, 1946, in Waukon,IA, to Edward and Evelyn (Mulholland) Colsch, Sr. He attended elementary school in Freeburg, MN and high school in Caledonia. Lug joined the U.S. Marines and served in Vietnam for 18 months. On May 16, 1970, he married Colleen Hayes and together they had two sons, Jamie and Kevin. They later divorced. He married Kathryn A. Felten on May 3, 1997, at St. Mary's Church in Caledonia. Lug worked in construction and helped with several projects: the power plant in Genoa, bridges in the area, the Black River Falls Prison, and renovations at Camp McCoy. He was also self employed, working as a logger and carpenter. He retired from the Carpenter's Local Union 1143. Lug loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, canning. and helping his father in law on the farm. He took great pride in his lawn and enjoyed woodworking at his home and making bean bag games and assorted other games. He also enjoyed playing cards, dancing and especially spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brownsville, VFW Post 5603 in New Albin, IA, and American Legion Post 191, Caledonia. He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Brownsville; 2 sons, Jamie (Colene) Colsch and Kevin (Anna Feuerhelm) Colsch, and grandchildren, Braeden, Brielle, and Brynne, all of Caledonia; 7 brothers and sisters, Margaretta Cue of Lansing, IA, Ariel (Peter) Gilbertson of Reno, MN, Evelyn "Granny" (Edward) Bebee of Reno, Raymond "Fargo" (Dolly) Colsch of of Freeburg, MN, Ronnie "Punk" Colsch of Freeburg, Merrell "Cobb" (Karen) Colsch of Reno, Calvin (Donna) Colsch of Freeburg ; a sister in law, Mary Colsch of New Albin; mother and father in law, John and Lorna Felten, grandmother in law, Wilma Felten; and brother and sisters in law, Sue Felten and Brad (Anne) Felten, all of Caledonia. He was prceded in death by his parents, a brother, Herbert, and grandfather in law, Dominic Felten. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Mon. June 11, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brownsville. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial with military honors will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freeburg. Friends and family may call from 3 to 7 pm Sunday, at the Brownsville Community Center, where a prayer service will be held at 7 pm. Visitation will also be from 9 to 10 am Monday morning at Breza Hall, next to the church. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family with arrangements.
