DOROTHY MARY (JAHN) BAUMGARTNER

Dorothy Mary (Jahn) Baumgartner died peacefully in her sleep on October 2, 2022. She was born on November 3, 1944, in Caledonia, MN to William and Margaret (McCormick) Jahn. She graduated from Loretto High School in 1962. Dorothy married Bernie Baumgartner on May 2, 1964, and they shared 58 years of marriage together. They moved to the country outside of Caledonia, MN to raise their three children. Dorothy was an active member of St. Mary’s Church and had a very strong Catholic faith. She loved to offer her time to the church; volunteering for the Bazaar, bingo, serving at funeral dinners, and helping in the church office. Dorothy always took time to visit friends in the nursing home and deliver bulletins and smiles to those who were unable to make it out of their homes. Dorothy’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved to get the gang together for a day of fun playing mini-golf and riding go-karts, going to Chuck-E-Cheese, and especially loved having lunches together- and always had to get a group picture at the end of the day. Dorothy loved to attend her grandchildren’s school concerts, science fairs and walked with the kids during the St. Mary’s school marathon. She loved the holidays and getting together with her family. Her smile and laugh will be missed dearly. She is survived by her husband Bernie, children; Mary Lou (late Darryl) Graf, Karen (Joe) Ideker, Joe (Vicki) Baumgartner. Grandchildren; Michael (Anna) Graf, Laura Graf, Andy (Amanda) Graf, Jennifer (Tyler) Marson, Jessica (Adam) Heberlein, Maria Ideker (Jeremy Billiet), and Anthony Baumgartner (Kayla Kamrowski), as well as 6 great-grand-children, sister Margie (Richard) Beitlich, and sister-in-law LaVonne Jahn. She was proceeded in death by her parents, and brother Bill Jahn, sister and brother-in-law Lorraine (Jim) Thompson, and son-in-law Darryl Graf. The family would like to express our deepest heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mary Bassing and Melissa Schulze, APNP (Gundersen Health), for their years of dedicated and loving care of Dorothy. A very special thank you to the staff at the Claddagh Senior Living (Caledonia) and Tweeten Gundersen Health Care (Spring Grove) for taking great care of Dorothy during her final years. We would also like to extend gratitude to Sister Micheline and Father Matthew Wagner for all your blessings through this difficult time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am, Friday, October 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday, at St. Mary's Holy Family Hall. A rosary will be said at 9:30 am, Friday before the service at the church, and visitation will be from 10 to 11 am before the service at the church Friday. Burial will be at St. Joseph, Convent Cemetery, rural Hokah, following the luncheon. The service will be livestreamed on St. Mary's School and Parish, Caledonia, Facebook page.
