ELIZABETH "LIZ" FRUECHTE

Elizabeth "Liz" (Yehle) Fruechte, age 91, of Caledonia, passed away on March 1, 2025, at Tweeten Health Care, Spring Grove, MN. She was born on October 22, 1933, in La Crosse, WI to Stephen and Florence (Papenfus) Yehle. She graduated from Logan High School in La Crosse. She earned her “green thumb” working alongside her father and grandmother in the family greenhouse on George Street in La Crosse. She married Arnold Fruechte on November 14, 1959 in La Crosse, WI and made Caledonia their home together for 61 years. She always had a large garden that many admired as they passed by and tooted their horn to her. She enjoyed canning and freezing the fruits of her labor which provided many a meal. She always had a plate for whoever showed up at her table. When the weather wasn’t fit for gardening she enjoyed sewing, knitting and needlework. The more exciting a football game was the faster her knitting needles would click. She also enjoyed golfing and served on many committees at the golf course. She served as a leader for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Caledonia. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and was involved with the ladies committees. Her grand children brought her great joy and she always attended their events at school. She passed on her love of gardening and cooking to them. Liz and Arnie were awarded many memorable travel opportunities all over the world. They also enjoyed wintering in Texas in their motor home and visiting family and friends around the US. . Survivors include two children: Steve (Linda) of Caledonia and Kay (Michael) Paulson of Spring Grove. Her grandchildren Phillip Paulson of Minneapolis, MN and Katrina Paulson (Alex Frisch Fiancé) of Jackson, MN. Brothers in law Vernon (Naomi) Fruechte, Neil (Sharon) Fruechte and Lawrence (Judy) Fruechte and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister and brother-in-law Margaret (Robert) Jensen , in-laws Eloyse Asmus, Ray Asmus, Muriel Schroeder, Glen Schroeder and nephews Terry Asmus and Randy Asmus. A special thank you to Darcie, Deb, Kyle, Nikki and Tammy for your warm and compassionate care. Services will be at 11 am, Friday, March 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia. McCormick Funeral Home is assisting the family.
