CHRISTINA MARIA VIEHAUSER

Christina Viehauser, 62, was welcomed into eternity by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother on Dec. 1, 2024, after a short valiant fight with cancer. She died peacefully in the presence of her fiancee, Christopher Von Arx, and three of her five beloved children. Christina was born in Munich Germany and moved to the United States with her parents David and Erika Sorum when she was just an infant. As a child, she developed a true love for horses, as she would ride them with her very best friend every day. As many know, this love for horses carried on throughout her life, as she found so much peace and solace in their presence. Christina was a mother of five children, four daughters and one son. Her love for her children was unconditional. She not only taught, but was a genuine model of maternal strength, kindness, amazing work ethic, integrity, grace, and compassion for those around her. She loved joy and was well known for laughing so hard she cried. Christina's compassion was emulated in her work as the activities director of Saint Mark's (senior home) in Austin, MN. She demonstrated the ability to transfer her love and light through serving people that needed it the most. She cared deeply for the residents she served, as they reciprocated that love for her. Christina was all in for Jesus. She loved going to Mass and Adoration, saying the rosary with Chris, and praying for her children, grandchildren, and many friends. Her gentle voice and warm, graceful smile welcomed and inspired everyone who met her. Christina was passionate about her dogs and chickens, 1800’s era re-enacting, and rides in the country on Chris’s Harley and antique tractors. She also had a deep love for nature, as evidenced by her love of horses, dragonflies, gardening, beautiful polished stones from around the world, and simple country living, where the sunrises and sunsets were "the very best". She lived a simple but full life that she loved and will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Christina is survived by her best friend and fiancee, Chris Von Arx; her five children, Danielle (Brandon) Krause, Nicole (Andy) Hull, Krista Viehauser, Kelli Viehauser (Brandon, fiance), and Matthew (Jenna) Viehauser; her grandchildren, Anastasia, Aubriella, Laelia, Oryn, and Leo, plus two precious babies on the way; her mom, Erika Sorum; and her sister, Centa Sorum. She is predeceased by her dad, David Sorum, and her sister, Bonnie Madison. A funeral mass for Christina’s soul will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caledonia, MN at 11 am, Saturday, December 14, 2024, Father Andrew Vogel will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Convent Cemetery in Hokah, MN. A luncheon will follow the burial at the Hokah Fire Hall. Christina requested a potluck luncheon, so please feel welcome to bring your favorite dish in her honor. A rosary for Chris will be said at 9:30 am at the church before the visitatio.
