AMY JEAN ROMMES

Amy Jean Rommes May 25, 1977 – September 15, 2025 Miss Amy Jean Rommes, age 48, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on May 25, 1977, in La Crosse, WI, Amy was the beloved daughter of Donald and Marguerite “Marge” (Schroeder) Rommes. She graduated from Caledonia High School in 1998 and went on to make a lasting impact on her community through her programs ICAN and ABLE, and at ABC and Twice is Nice, where she proudly worked from 1999 to 2025. Amy was truly one of a kind. Her simple smile lit up every room she entered, and her signature “I love you” sign to family and friends was her sweet way of making sure everyone knew how loved they were. She had a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew her. Whether it was enjoying arts and crafts, splashing around in the pool, or celebrating her birthday at Chuck E. Cheese (her favorite), Amy embraced life with enthusiasm and heart. In 2020, more than 80 cars showed up to surprise her with a birthday parade, a true testament to how deeply she was loved. She was honored with the WOW Award from ABC, served as Caledonia Founder’s Day Parade Marshal in 2021, and proudly saw her smile light up a billboard on the La Crescent Pike for ABLE, a moment she absolutely adored. And of course, her all-time favorite movie was Twister; she never got tired of watching it or watching the sky during a storm and seeing a rainbow appear. Amy is survived by her four loving sisters: Terri (Dan) Gavin, Debbie (Randy) Myhre, Karen (Larry) Wermager, and Connie (Paul) Link; brother-in-law Lenny Thorstenson; loving group of nieces and nephews; Jason, Corey, Leiha, Josh, Shannon, Ashley, Mitchell, Abby, Adam, Nicole, Kyle, Kailey and Kelley and extended family, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. She was also deeply loved by her caregivers and dear friends whose friendship and support brought Amy and her family so much joy and comfort over the years. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marge Rommes, and her sister, Julie Connor. Her life was full of love, laughter, and a joy that could never be contained. Amy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and connection that will never be forgotten. And in true Amy fashion, she would want us to remember her with a smile, a rainbow after the storm, and of course, a Diet Dew in hand. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am, Saturday, September 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Andrew Vogel will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 9 am to 10:45 am Saturday, before the service at St. Mary's Holy Family Hall.
