Richard D. Schulze passed away on July 20th, 2017. He was born in Caledonia to Ormond and Vilas (Johnson) Schulze. He attended Caledonia High School, after which he served his Country in Vietnam as a radio operator for the United States Army. He received Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2, ) National Defense Service Medal, and Expert M-16 Rifle Medal. Upon his discharge he worked at Frankies Inn and in 1980, he purchased and managed the restaurant. In 1994 he acquired another business, The Ranch. He additionally was an original investor with the establishment of the AmericInn, which was later sold.

Frankies and The Ranch were his life and enjoyment and the patrons were his extended family. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and Caledonia United Methodist Church.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Darlene (the late Richard) Mickelberg, brothers Larry and Roger. He was also preceded in death by niece Jacqueline Klein

He is survived by siblings: Shirley, Robert (Judy), Kenneth (Dorothy Kruse), Lois (Merlin) Klein, Mary (the late Richard) Popp, Diane (Ardy Krueger Jr.), sister-in-law Leigh Schulze Goetzinger, and nieces and nephews.

Richard dedicated his life to his restaurant and bar business. He will be forever remembered for his famous Frankies Chicken. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, employees, and patrons.

Per Richard’s wishes, there will be a private family memorial service and military burial will be at a later date Evergreen Cemetery.
