RONALD J. ROHRER
November 9, 1933 - April 24, 2017

Ronald J. Rohrer, 83, joined his heavenly Father on April 24, 2017, in Brownsville, MN. He was born in the family home in Brownsville on November 9, 1933, to John & Dorothy (Witt) Rohrer. He attended Brownsville Public School and then Loretta High School. He married Margie Bissen in 1953, and they raised five children. They later divorced.

In 1954, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany as a Diesel Mechanic and Bridge Builder during Reconstruction. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1962. He received a Good Conduct Medal and Marksman Medals. Following discharge he worked at the Cooler Company and Gateway Transportation in La Crosse, WI, for 33 years and then worked at The Company Store as a Maintenance Supervisor until retirement in 1997. He served on the Brownsville Village Board from February 1969 to January 1975 and was Brownsville Constable during the 1960’s.

In 1980, he married Sharon (Scanlan) Field in Winona, MN. Together their proudest achievements were their 11 children, 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Judy Lange (Caledonia), Nancy Davis (Ettrick) and daughter-in-law Deb (Harvey) Ekern; sons, Michael (Laurie Arzaga) Rohrer (Brownsville) and Jeff (Lisa Schwidde) Rohrer (Caledonia); twin brother, Donald Rohrer; and sister, Eileen Holzwarth. He is further survived by step-daughters, Janelle Field (Tim) Rohrer, Judi (Mark) Gantenbein, Jean (Doug Grout) Meyer, Jill (Mark Jahnke) Mullen, all of Brownsville; and step-sons, Michael (Madalyn) Field (Marshfield, WI) and Mark (Beth) Field (Andover, MN). Grandchildren: Tony (Melissa) Lange, Randy (Teresa) Lange, Kurt (Tessa) Lange, Jessica (Mike) Manahan, Lee (Leah) Rohrer, Brad (Anna) Bernau, Travis (Breanne) Bernau, Jessica Bernau, Nicole (Josh) Sarze, Sara Davis, Nicholas Rohrer, Nathan Rohrer, and Nolan Rohrer. Step-grandchildren: Bryce (Mandy) Rohrer, Hannah (Dave) Levenick, Kendra (Jason Feyen) Rohrer, Shay Rohrer, Amanda (Nick) King, J.T. (Britney) Gantenbein, Clint (Lyndsey Kampen) Meyer, Ross (Kelsey) Meyer, Trent Meyer, Michael V. Field, Maggie (Niam Vilches) Field, Molly Field, Philip Mullen, John (Katie Smith) Mullen, Colin Field and many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Steve Rohrer; son-in-law, Bill Lange; sister, Marcelin Corcoran; and step-granddaughter, Marie E. Meyer.

A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Parish, Brownsville, MN. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., with Mass at 2:00 p.m. con-celebrated by Fr. Gregory Havel and Msgr. James McCauley. Military burial will follow at the Veterans Cemetery and a meal at St. Patrick’s Hall. Memorials of your choice are preferred in lieu of flowers. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family.
