Dorothea "DeeDee" Moser, 85, of Caledonia, formerly of Galena, IL, died Friday April 7, 2017 at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
DeeDee was born June 23, 1931, in Chicago, IL, to Jan and Louise (Wutschke) Easterhouse. She grew up in Chicago and went to live with her sister Louise at a young age and helped raise Louise's children. She was united in marriage to Clifford Moser on November 4, 1950. They began their married life in the Chicago area and later moved to Galena, IL where she managed Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort for more than 20 years. She has been a part of the Caledonia community for 20 years plus, living on Freeburg Ridge during the 90's, and returning in 2006 to live with her daughter Diana and son-in-law Joe Hammell.
She is survived by 2 sons, Glenn (Cynthia) Moser, and Neil (Toni) Moser, son-in-law, Joe
Hammell; 9 grandchildren, Abe, Jed, Lucas, Katrina (Nystrom) Hammell, Leanna and Kurt Moser, Nelson, Melanie (Seiden), and Daniel Moser; 15 great grandchildren, Joey, Theron, Hadley, J.T., Coby, Bennett, Myles, and Liam Hammell, Henrik and Anders Nystrom, Audrey and Hunter Seiden, Paige, Annabelle, and Griffin Moser; and 2 special nieces, Anita and Brenda and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford; her daughter, Diana Hammell; her sisters, Louise Marie and Agnes; brother, Henderikus; and nephew, Otto John.
Funeral services will be at 10 am on Tues., April 11, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven Meyer will officiate, luncheon will follow and burial will take place
at 3:30 pm at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Galena, IL. Visitation will be from 8:30-10 Tues. morning before the service at the church.
