EUGENE ALOIS PFIFFNER
September 28, 1926 - June 1, 2016

Eugene Alois Pfiffner, 89, of Hokah, passed away June 1, 2016 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. He was born in Unterterzen, Switzerland September 28, 1926, to Martin and Emily (Kessler) Pfiffner.

After graduating from high school in 1943, Gene worked with his dad in a cement factory for two years. In May 1948 Gene left Switzerland for the United States where he met his second cousin Ed Albrecht at the Burlington Railroad Station. Gene started to work at the Hokah Co-op Creamery. He then went on to work construction. He also worked as the custodian at St. Peters Catholic Church and School in Hokah. Gene then worked at the Dresbach Information Center till his retirement at the age of 80. He loved this.

Gene married Dorothy Mae Rud September 15, 1954 in St. Johns Catholic Church in Caledonia MN. The marriage was blessed with 5 boys, and 1 girl. Eugene was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy; his son Matt; his parents, and three brothers and two sisters.

Eugene is survived by five children: Jim Pfiffner, Joe Pfiffner (Lisa Merfled), Larry Pfiffner, Heidi (Tim) Lorenz, Tom (Cindy) Pfiffner; and seven grandchildren; Amy (Jared) Lemke, Holly (Lorenzo) Trudeau, Ben Pfiffner, Matt Lorenz, Christine Lorenz, Amber Pfiffner, and Katie Humfeld. Four great grandchildren, Jackson Morrison, Zaryn and Quinn Trudeau and Peyton Thiele-Lorenz. Eugene's family would like to extend their heart-felt appreciation to the medical staff of Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center, also to Mr. and Mrs. Ott for bringing Holy Communion to his home every Sunday. Chris and Dave Papke for being such wonderful friends to our dad. All memorials can be made to St Peter’s Catholic Church or School.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, June 18, at St. Peter Catholic Church, Hokah, MN. Father Pratap Reddy Salibindla will officiate, and visitation will be held before the funeral starting at 9:30 a.m at the church. A burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Hokah. M
