Margaret Anne Wagner, 89, of Caledonia, died Friday, October 23, 2015, at Caledonia Care and Rehab, Caledonia. She was born March 11, 1926, in Waukon, Iowa, to Albert "Bert" and Rose (Curtin) Marsden.
Margaret graduated from Waukon High School in 1945. She was a teacher in a rural Union Prairie Township school. Later, she went to cosmetology school and worked as a beautician in Waukon. On February 15, 1949, she married Melvin Wagner at St John the Baptist Church on West Ridge. Margaret and Melvin then engaged in farming for many years until their retirement. Melvin preceded her in death on March 27, 2001.
Margaret enjoyed farm life, gardening, and the outdoors. She believed in hard work and the power of prayer and led by example. Most of all, she loved her Family and was greatly loved in return.
She is survived by her 9 children; Dale (Nancy) of Chatfield, MN, Sue Wagner of LaCrosse, Marlene (Steven) Barth of Cambridge, WI, Richard (Renee) of Caledonia, Jane (Stephen) Burger of Spring, TX, John (Mary) of Apple Valley, MN, Tom (Joanne) of Caledonia, Sandra (Don) Petersen of Hokah, MN, and Curt (Maureen) of Caledonia; 21 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and her twin sister, Mary Lou Walsh of Waukon.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Daniel Marsden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am
, Friday, Oct. 30, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Matt Fasnacht will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm
Thurs. at St. Mary's Holy Family Hall where a rosary will be said at 7 pm
. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday
