Duane J. Conniff, 78, of Hokah, died from injuries from an accident at his farm on Wed. July 15, 2015. Duane was born in LaCrosse, WI, to Lloyd and Mona Conniff, becoming the oldest of five children. He married Joan Reining on August 3, 1963. They began farming and raised their family near Hokah, MN.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years and five children: Ann (Jami) Menden, Rose (Louis) Nash, Mark (Shannon Lynch), Kevin (Amy Mike) and Alan (Kathy Kadlec). He has 11 grandchildren: Tim (Courtney Paaverud; Ryan, and Jessica Menden; Sarah and Bo Nash; Amber, Kaitlin, Tanner, and Caleb Conniff; Jill and Eric Conniff. He is also survived by brothers Dennis (JoAnn) and Jim, sister Kay (Vern) Yolton, sister-in-law Jamie and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dan, and grandson John Henry Nash.
Duane loved sitting around the table with his family, teasing his grandchildren, telling stories, sitting on the porch visiting with friends and neighbors, sneaking treats from the freezer and cupboard, and working the family farm, with a special fondness for field work. He was a dairy farmer until 2001 and began raising black angus in 2006. He was also an active member of several community organizations over the years, including proudly serving on the boards of the Hokah Cooperative Oil Association and the Root River Soil and Water Conservation District.
He will be remembered for his strong, deep love of family, friends and farming.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, on Mon. July 20th, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Hokah. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-5 at the church and also from 9-10 am Monday morning at the church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Hokah.
