Debra Kay Ackerson “Grandma WeeWee”, 60 years old of La Crescent, passed into eternal life with the Lord, on Saturday, June 6th 2015, after a 7 ½ year journey with breast cancer.
Debbie was born on October 7th, 1954 in Sparta WI, to Donald and Loretta Fennigkoh. She graduated from Sparta high school in 1972. She married Bruce Ackerson in 1974, whom she had two loving children with, and they later divorced. She went on to work at Trane Company for 33 years working various jobs in manufacturing and quality control, and was actively involved in the Union throughout her career.
Above all things in her life, her grandchildren stole her heart and soul. She adored them and spent her days either with them, or bragging about them. She never missed a moment to bring “wee wees” (matchbox cars) to her grandsons, or visiting and calling her “little dolly”. She spent many nights and weekends at her daughter’s farm, gathered around the dinner table, or on the Ranger with the boys. She spent a lot of time traveling to her mother’s, playing cards and eating at the Family Restaurant. Weekly she enjoyed going out to lunch or to the movies, with her beloved family and friends.
Debbie was a gem, and as true and pure of a light as anyone could be. She brightened so many lives each and every day, and inspired love and kindness wherever she went. She will be remembered for her phenomenal smile, and “bubbly” nature, that was always present, no matter the circumstance. She lived a great and full life.
She is survived by her children, Jessica (Adam Bennett)of La Crescent, Jeremy (Megan Accola)of Lakeville; grandchildren, Wyatt, Tobias, Cyrus, Clara, and one more on the way; mother, Loretta Fennigkoh of Sparta; brother Donald Fennikoh (Joanie) of Sparta; and many other loving relatives and friends.
