Daryl Adolph Olson, 64, of Houston, MN, passed away on Saturday, 10/25/14 peacefully at his son’s home in Wabasha, MN surrounded by family.
He was born in LaCrosse, WI on 10/23/1950, to Adolph and Lucille (Mickelson) Olson. Daryl graduated from Houston High School in 1968. He married Clara Zibrowski, February 1969, and they later divorced.
Daryl spent time in the U.S. Army, and actively fought for our country in Korea. Daryl spent many years as a school bus driver for the Houston School District. His love for the outdoors was something to be admired as he taught his children the beauty and respect for the outdoors. Daryl was an avid fisherman and hunter whatever the season had to offer then passed the knowledge to his son, daughters and grandchildren. If he was not at home, he could be found in the spring picking morels, in the summer, cat fishing on the Root River, in the fall there was ginseng to be dug in the valleys he so loved, and rolling into winter there were deer to be hunted with or without shells in the gun.
He is survived by his children, Wendy (Jon) Meyer of Lake City, Kari (Rick) Skifton of Zumbro Falls, MN, Dustin (Heather) Olson of Wabasha, MN; mother, Lucille Olson of Caledonia; grandchildren, Justine and Alex Kurth, Karl Meyer; Shelby, Bailey, Luke and Madyson Skifton; and Trenton, Kaleb, and Wyatt Olson; and a brother, Leonard (Karyn) Olson of Houston, MN;
He is preceded in death by father Adolph Olson, infant grandson Dawson, and granddaughter Nora.
