Elsie Mae Palen, 95, of Caledonia, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at her home. She was born August 14, 1916 in Caledonia. She was born August 14, 1916 in Caledonia to Henry and Josephine (Longueville) Wisland. She married Victor Palen November 25, 1943 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Caledonia. He preceded her in death February 13, 2003.
Elsie worked at the Houston County Courthouse as an abstractor and was later self employed as a registered abstractor. She was well known for her beautiful flower gardens.
She is survived by 5 children, John Palen of Caledonia, Vicki Palen of Milladore, WI, Geraldine (Peter Thompson) Schultz of Glendale, CA, David Palen of Elroy, WI, Frances Palen of Geneva, Switzerland; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Kristin McFadden, a brother Eugene Wisland, and a sister, Marian Mitchell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am on Friday, June 15, at St.
Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am Friday at the church before the service. McCormick Funeral Home is assisting the family.
