Robert “Bob” Edward Colleran, 79, of Caledonia, MN passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on November 15th, 2011. He was born July 16th, 1932 in Mayville Township, MN to Agnes (Malay) and Joseph Colleran. After attending Loretto High School he was offered the opportunity to pitch for the New York Yankees but had to decline. He started working for Nelson Lumber Company and soon after he met and later married Janelle Ann Thompson on November 17th, 1951. He started working for Jahn Trucking Company after they married and later he began working as an electrical lineman for Dairyland Power Company. This led them to move around to various towns in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois & Minnesota. While working for Dairlyand Power he was a member of I.B.E.W. Bob enjoyed playing musical instruments like the guitar, banjo, harmonica & piano. He also enjoyed playing cards (especially when he Euchred his family), traveling, going to Daniel O’Donnell concerts and riding his John Deere tractor.

He will be deeply missed by the “sunshine of his life” of the last 60 years, Janelle. He is survived by 6 children; Marcella “Sally” & Mark Harren, Rice, MN and their children Stephanie (Jake) Andrews, Ryan (Heather) Harren; Robert “Bob” Colleran Jr., Green Bay, WI; Timothy & Cindy Colleran, Caledonia, MN and their children Christopher (Morgan) Colleran, Sarah Colleran, Samantha Colleran; Cindy & Duane Olson, Caledonia, MN and their children Joe Olson, Jessica Olson; Mary Jo & Mike Evans, St. Paul, MN and their children Aaron (Hiddie) Lanik, Adam Lanik, Alex Lanik & Angela Lanik; Michael & Fernanda Colleran, Caledonia, MN and their children Bia Colleran & Michael Colleran. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, with 2 great grandchildren on the way, brother in-law & sister in-law Don & Carol Thompson, Arvada, CO; and Tommy & Sandy Thompson, Keeau, HI. Grandson Christopher Colleran is currently serving in the Air Force in Iraq.

He was preceeded in death by his parents Joseph & Agnes Colleran; brother and sister in-law Bill & Mary Colleran; sister and brother in-law Dorothy & Earl Lord; sister in-law & brother in-law Carol (Don) Butz; sister in-law & brother in-law Gayle (Richard) Staatz; and brother in-law Robert.

Visitation will be held Friday November 18th from 4-8 P.M. at St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall, Caledonia, with a prayer service at 7:30 pm.. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday November 19th from 10:30 A.M. with visitation one hour prior to Mass at St. Mary’s Church. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. McCormick Funeral Home is assisting the family.
