Helen F. Johnson, 89, of Caledonia, died Monday April 11, 2011 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born January 21, 1922 in Caledonia to Nicholas and Eva (Hemmer) Frank. Helen was a graduate of Loretto High School, Caledonia and Harding Beauty School in LaCrosse. She started her career in LaCrosse at Doerflingers and then purchased Cordula Brady's Beauty Shop in the DeWitz buidling in Caledonia. She moved her shop to her home and in 1966 she moved to her current location on Kingston Street in Caledonia, where she was still active in the business. She married Leland "Red" Johnson and he preceded her in death in 1982.
Helen enjoyed playing golf and cards and traveling the world. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, its Council of Catholic Women and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Lonnie) Kimler of Caledonia and a brother Raymond Frank of Caledonia. and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was prededed in death by her parents, and a sister, Leona Buchmayer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 14, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Vistation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
