Sanford Michael Wiste, age 46 of Caledonia, passed away Tuesday January 11, 2011 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI
Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove, and McCormick Funeral Home of Caledonia are assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born on July 28, 1964 in Spring Grove, MN to Arvid and Carmona (Haugstad) Wiste. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1983 Spring Grove High School graduate and attended NICC in Calmar, IA , where he was enrolled in the Aboriculture program.
Sanford had worked for APN in Caledonia, Featherlite of Cresco, IA, as a self-employed carpenter, and more recently at Sodko in Spring Grove.
On Sep. 17, 1994 he married Candis Haugen at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer, rural Spring Grove.
He loved hunting, fishing, animals, reading, gardening, and taking care of his bonsai tree.
He was a very active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caledonia.
Sanford was the ultimate “Teddybear uncle”, he loved his nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and they loved his gentleness, and fun loving spirit, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivor’s include his wife Candis of Caledonia.
His mother Carmona of Spring Grove.
Nine brothers and sisters, Charles (Emily) of Spring Grove, Stanley (Sherry), of Houston, MN, Steve (Lori) of Spring Grove, David of Caledonia, Paul (Joan) of Houston, MN, Joyce (Scott) Onstad and Judy (Alan) Roble of Spring Grove, Leighton (Chris) of Naperville, Ill and Heidi (Don) White of Waseca, MN
Many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father Arvid and his nephew Jacob Onstad and sveral aunts, uncle’s and cousins
Sanford’s wishes were to be cremated, his visitation will be held Sun. Jan. 16, 2011, from 2-4 P.M. at St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall in Caledonia, MN
Mass of Christian burial will be held Mon. Jan. 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caledonia. Friends may call from 10-11 am at the church Monday morning.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Caledonia.
The family requests memorials be given to the Houston County Historical Society or Donor’s Choice.
