Marian Lager, 98, of Caledonia, died Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Caledonia Care and Rehab in Caledonia. She was born May 26, 1912 in Caledonia to Michael and Mary (Hill) Donahue. She married Robert Lager February 14, 1931 in Indiana. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Marian was a loving homemaker, wife and mother. She was employed at the Caledonia Hospital for 21 years and she was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Caledonia, its Council of Catholic Women and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed traveling and visiting family.
She is survived by 4 children, Robert "Corky" (Lorraine) Lager of Winona, MN, Geraldine Chase of St. Paul, MN, Richard Lager of Lansing, MN, and Ilene (John) Ernster of LaCrescent, MN; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and a sister in law, Gerianne Donahue of Woodstock, IL.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by 2 children, Donna and Joseph Lager; 2 grandsons, Bob Lager and Brian Chase; a sister, Eileen Bimrose; and 3 brothers, Ivan, James and Gerald Donahue.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Friday, Nov. 5, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, at Holy Family Hall, next to the church, where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
