Evelyn C (Greisch) Wagner, 94, of Caledonia died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 at Dove Healthcare in Eau Clare, WI. Born April 15, 1916 to Joseph and Susie (Longueville) Greisch, Evelyn was a native of Caledonia and a life-long member of St. Mary’s Parish.
After graduating from Loretto High School in 1933, Evelyn worked in the local theater and then as a telephone operator. She married Earl E. Wagner on January 29, 1942.
Evelyn was an avid reader, a talented seamstress and tailor. Her embroidery work was exceptional. Evelyn often entered her sewing projects in competition at the county fair, never bringing home less than a blue ribbon. She took pride in her skill as a loving wife and mother, homemaker, cook and gardener.
Her survivors include her husband of 68 years, Earl E. Wagner and five children: Suzanne (Richard Siepkowski) Tristano of Caledonia and of Hernando, FL; John Robert Wagner of San Francisco, CA; Mary Louise Knapp of Elgin, IL; Dr. Paul (Virginia) Wagner of Calgary, Canada; and Dr. Peter (Lynn) Wagner of Eau Claire, WI. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, half-sisters Ivona Burg and Naomi Grohman, half-brother Joseph Greisch, and by her grandson Matthew Tristano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 21 at Holy Family Hall next to St. Mary’s Church, where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call on Friday 30 min prior to services at the church.
