Mary "Marguerite" Beardmore, 86, of Caledonia, died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, LaCrosse,WI. She was born December 23, 1923 in Caledonia to Peter and Josephine (Scanlan) Longueville. Marguerite married Melvin "Toby" Beardmore on September 5, 1950 in Decorah, IA. She attended country school, Loretto High School, and Winona Business College in Winona, MN After schooling she went to Long Beach, CA and lived with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colleran and family. She worked as a clerk at the draft board during WWII.
Marguerite returned to Caledonia and worked as a clerk at Simon Drug Store and the Ben Franklin Store. She was also bookkeeper for Hector Construction in Caledonia for 16 years.
She is survived by her husband Melvin "Toby" of Caledonia; a daughter, Sandra Goodhart of Warsaw, MO; 2 sons, Bill (Dianne) Beardmore of Boone, IA and Gary (Cathy) Beardmore of LaCrescent, MN; 8 grandchildren, Joseph Edgell, Shawn Shenkemeyer, Christina Downey, Brian Goodhart, Tracy Simpson, Erin Sorenson, Adam Beardmore, Ryan Beardmore; 13 great grandchildren, Hayden Edgell, Rylie, Reece, Max, and Eleanor Downey, Ruby Skenkemeyer, Mariah Jansen, Ronald Goodhart, Josh and Bryce Sorenson, Chantelle, Cody and Chloe Simpson; 2 sisters in law, Etta Longueville of Eagen, MN and Lol Longueville Cram of Austin, MN; and many nieces, nephews and special cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Friday, August 20, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 509 S. Pine St., Caledonia. Frs. James McCauley and Gregory Leif will concelebrate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Thursday at Holy Family Hall, next to the church, where a prayer service will be said at 7:30 pm. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Church or School. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Dale and Earl "Bud" Longueville; a sister, Alice Marie Meyer and a son in law, Ron Goodhart.
