Odin Kenneth Wermager, 93, of Caledonia, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Golden Living Center, LaCrescent, MN.
He was born July 15, 1917, in Wilmington Township, Houston County, to Carl and Olena (Buxengard) Wermager. He was a WWII veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945. Odin married Rose Mary Sullivan on October 25, 1947 in Caledonia. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2006. He worked as an heavy equipment operator for Local Union 49 for many years. He was a member of Houston County VFW Post 3833 and American Legion Post 191 in Caledonia.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Linda (Dean) Steinke of San Jose, CA, Mary Kay (John) Olinger of Onalaska, WI, and Donna Mae (James) Ross of Hokah, MN; a son, Anthony (Connie) Wermager of Hokah; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian (James) Ethridge of Wagner, OK.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 10, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven Meyer will officiate and burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm on Monday at McCormick Funeral Home, 205 E. Main, Caledonia, and visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tues.
In addition to his wife Rose Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Thomas, 2 sisters and a brother.
